You’ve thought about this for months. Maybe years.

I’m not fit enough yet.

You get fit by training. Nobody arrives fit & Jiujitsu is a great way to build fitness in a fun alternative way to going to the gym.

Everyone will already know each other.

Not on Rolling Start. The whole group starts together with their own beginners-only whatsapp group with direct access to their coach

I’ll look stupid.

Every black belt on our mats had a first night. Nobody will think your stupid in fact they'll be glad to see you start.

I don’t know what to wear or where to stand.

We handle all of the, including what to wear as your gi is included in the course.

The hardest part of Jiu-Jitsu is walking through the door once. Rolling Start is built to make that one step as easy as we possibly can.

Eight weeks from now

You'll feel fitter

16 sessions of the most engaging training you’ve ever done.

Carry yourself with confidence

You’ll know how to handle someone both standing on the ground. That type of confidence can't be gotten elsewhere.

Part of your community

In a world where in person connection is something we all lack, you'll have a group of people starting alongside you, plus a 200-strong academy behind you.

You’ll have something real

A completed fundamentals curriculum, a filled training journal, and your first stripe assessment with the head coach.

Is Rolling Start for you?

  • You’ve never trained a martial art - that’s exactly who this is built for.
  • You want to start properly, with other beginners, not thrown into an advanced class.
  • You can make Tuesday at 7.45pm and Thursdays at 6.30pm nights for eight weeks.
  • You already train BJJ regularly - you’ll want our regular classes, not the beginner course.
  • You’re after a single drop-in rather than a proper start.

How the eight weeks run

  • 1Your two nights are Tuesday at 7.45pm and Thursdays 6.30pm. Same two nights for eight weeks - that’s your course, and that’s all you have to commit to.
  • 2From week three, the timetable opens up. You can add one extra class from any of our essentials classes. No pressure, no obligation.
  • 3From week four you’re welcome at open mat. This is where most of the friendships get made.
  • 4Week eight is your stripe assessment - one-to-one with our black belt, plus feedback on where to go next.

One of the best decisions I ever made was walking through the doors of T45. From a complete beginner with no idea about jiujitsu each coach made me feel so welcomed and comfortable on the mats.

T45 BJJ is one of the reasons I enjoy coming back to Cork. Ciaran and Laura have cultivated such a welcoming environment full of talented grapplers. I always go in excited and leave with a smile on my face.

- Jack O’Doyle

Purple belt on holiday here, and I spent a week with the really great crew at T45. Great instruction. Crew was really welcoming and fun to train with.

Common questions

I’m completely unfit. Should I get fit first?

No. You get fit by training. Rolling Start is built for people starting from zero.

Am I too old for this?

We have members training well into their 50s who started as beginners. Age is not the barrier you think it is.

What if I miss a session?

Life happens. From week three the whole timetable is open to you, so it’s easy to make up a night.

Do I need to buy anything?

No. Your gi and belt are included and yours to keep. Just bring yourself and something to drink.

Will I be training with experienced people?

Your two core nights are beginner-only - the whole group starts together on Rolling Start.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes - two payments at no extra cost. Just ask.

What happens after the eight weeks?

You’ll have your first stripe and a clear next step, plus 20% off your first month of membership.

Where exactly are you, and is there parking?

Unit 1 Ballinacurra Business Park, Midleton - easy to reach from Cobh, Carrigtwohill and Youghal, with free parking right outside.

What do I bring the first night?

Just yourself and something to drink - no kit needed. We fit your gi on the night, and there are changing areas at the gym.

What if I get injured?

Rolling Start is beginner-only, and the training is controlled and supervised - keeping you safe while you learn is the whole point. Tell your coach about any niggles and we’ll work around them.

Will there be other women training?

Yes - we have women training across all our classes, and Laura co-coaches. You won’t be the only one on the mats.

Eight weeks from now, you’ll wish you’d started today.
