T45 Jiujitsu runs two dedicated kids programs in Midleton - Little Ninjas for ages 4-7 and Juvenile Jiujitsu for ages 8-12. Safe, structured, and genuinely fun.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is one of the best things you can put your child into. Not because it teaches them to fight - but because of everything it builds around them. Discipline, focus, confidence, resilience, problem-solving. These are the skills that show up at school, at home, and throughout their lives.
At T45 Jiujitsu in Midleton, our kids program is built around the child first and the martial art second. Coach Laura Power leads our Little Ninjas and Juvenile classes with a level of energy and genuine care that makes every child feel included, seen, and capable - from their very first session.
BJJ is unlike most sports your child may have tried. It is individual enough that every child progresses at their own pace, and team-oriented enough that they build lasting friendships on the mat. There is no kicking, no punching, and no contact that is not fully controlled and supervised.
Whether your child is naturally sporty or not, shy or outgoing, a natural leader or still finding their feet - BJJ works for them. We have seen children transform in confidence within months.
🧠
BJJ requires attention, patience, and repetition. Children learn to follow instruction, control their impulses, and stay focused under pressure - skills that transfer directly to school performance.
💪
Every technique mastered, every stripe earned, every challenge overcome builds genuine self-confidence. Not the performative kind - the deep kind that stays with them.
🤸
Classes are physically active and fun. Children develop balance, agility, core strength, and body awareness without it ever feeling like exercise.
🛡️
BJJ is one of the most effective self-defence systems in the world. Children learn how to stay calm under pressure and handle physical confrontation safely and confidently.
🤝
Every class begins and ends with a bow. Children learn to respect their coaches, their training partners, and themselves. The mat is a great leveller - everyone earns their place.
🏆
BJJ teaches children that losing is part of learning. Tapping out, trying again, improving - this builds a growth mindset that prepares them for setbacks far beyond the gym.

Little Ninjas is our program for children aged 4-7. At this age, the focus is entirely on fun, movement, and building a love of activity. Sessions are structured but playful, using games and drills to introduce the foundational concepts of BJJ.
Children in this age group develop listening skills, body coordination, and the ability to take turns and respect boundaries. Many parents notice a marked improvement in their child's focus and ability to follow instruction within just a few weeks.
No experience is needed and no equipment is required for a trial class. Just bring your child in comfortable gym clothes.
Juvenile Jiujitsu is for children aged 8-12. This is where training becomes more structured. Children learn proper BJJ positions, escapes, sweeps, and submissions in a safe and supervised environment.
Classes follow a clear curriculum with regular grading and stripe promotions to keep children motivated and progressing. The competitive element of BJJ becomes more apparent at this age, and we encourage those who are interested to enter local competitions.
Children in the Juvenile program regularly develop into some of the most technically skilled young grapplers in Munster. The foundations built at this age are exceptional.

T45 has one of the strongest kids competition records in Munster. Our young athletes have represented the club at IBJJF European Championships and at tournaments across Ireland, consistently bringing home medals and making the club proud.
Competition is entirely optional. Many of our kids members train purely for fitness, fun, and confidence without ever stepping on a competition mat - and that is absolutely fine. But for those who want to test themselves, we have an experienced coaching team and a proven track record of preparing children to compete safely, confidently, and successfully.
If your child shows an interest in competing, we will support that journey every step of the way. If they just want to train and enjoy it, that is exactly what we are here for too.
