What a weekend! We ventured over to Wolverhampton for Elite BJJ Junior European Championships with some of our juvenile competitors.
Each one preformed phenomenally, showcasing their jiu-jitsu and coming away with 5 gold medals between them!
First up we had Peter Hayes-Nally take to the mats for his gi match, dominating for the 5 minutes and earning gold with a significant points win.
Mattie stepped onto the neighbouring mat while Peter was still in action, winning his match by armbar in 30 seconds – giving him time to have his hand raised and jump straight to supporting Peter!
Next up we had Rokas’ gi division where he worked his way to the back and won his match by RNC. This was his first yellow belt competition and we were so impressed with his composure and his incredible attitude as he helped encourage other younger competitors in the bullpen before taking to the mats himself!
Day 2 NoGi saw Peter up first. He had an exciting, fast-paced match and came out on top with a win by points, which saw him collect the 4th gold of the weekend.
Mattie took to the mats next with another armbar finish after a dominant display through the match for his second gold of the weekend.
Rokas then stepped up to Teen 1 as he had no competitors in his division for NoGi and after a quick-paced start to the match, lost by submission and walked off the mats smiling with his opponent.
We are so incredibly proud of all four competitors stepping up to compete, despite some not having the matches. All four of these juvenile athletes work insanely hard and these results are just a reflection of their amazing attitude, work ethic and skill.
Congratulations again guys! On to the next one now!
Thank you again to all of our sponsors for their support! Without you, these athletes wouldn’t have had the chance to showcase their skills and bring home the silverware!
