T45 Jiujitsu are the top team at the Cork Open

This past Saturday, 18 competitors from white to black belt, took to the mats at the Cork international Open. The final medal haul was outstanding with the team taking home 10 golds, 7 silvers and 4 bronze. These results lead to T45 Jiujitsu taking the top academy in the Cork open. Here is a summary of how the day went from white to black belt.

Kids Belts

First up we had some of our kids team taking to the mats with Cian taking gold, Rokas taking gold, Ajus taking gold, Max taking silver, Gabriel taking silver, Liam taking silver, Kliadas taking silver, Matthew taking bronze. This was the first major outing for the kids team and we are delighted to see them all do so well but also have a lot of fun.

White Belt Adult

Our first Adult competitor was Kevin taking Gold in the Gi Super Heavy Weight and taking bronze in the Nogi Super Heavy Weight after two hard fought matches. We then had Stephen take silver in his Gi division after a points loss in the final, he then bounced back with two excellent wins in his Nogi division to take gold. Christian took silver after 3 matches in the lightweight adult division. Finally was Maggie taking double gold in her Gi and Nogi divisions, submitting her opponents in both finals.

Blue Belt Adult

We had three competitors in the blue belt divisions Darragh, Saoirse and Mattie. Saoirse took bronze in her division after moving up two weight classes and having a great performance. Darragh took silver in Gi and Bronze in Nogi after 3 brilliant matches. It was Mattie’s first competition in the blue belt ranks and he performed amazingly taking double gold in Gi and Nogi.

Black Belt Adult

Our head coach Ciaran took to the mats in the black belt lightweight division, only getting the single match which he won by kneebar submission after threatening with some of his trademark leglock attacks from the start of the match.

Winning the team trophy in the Cork open

Winning a team trophy is something we’ve dreamed about and worked towards for a long time. Winning it in our home town of Cork and cementing ourselves as the best Jiujitsu Academy in Cork is a massive achievement for our young club.  Next up for the T45 Jiujitsu competition team is the European Championships in Paris, January 2023.
